I've isolated my problem with Red Gnus to get at least a work around.
When I (setq nntp-server-list-active-group nil), my nntp groups appear
as normal. When I do not, the counts appear as '*'s.

So it appears nntp-try-list-active is evil on some servers. :-(

Unsolicited commercial e-mail will be billed at $250/message.
What are the last two letters of "doesn't" and "can't"?
Coincidence? I think not.
