This works really well most of the time. Has done for years. And now, for

'B' 'q' suggests archive.2008-02 and misc. Why doesn't the any rule
match the To: line? Is there some switch I can turn on to get some
debugging output from split fancy?

I had another message go *only* to the archive list, so there's
definitely something funky and it's a serious problem for me.

Thank you, that revealed my silly mistake. I also use
split-fancy-with-parent and I was looking at a reply. :-(

I guess there might be something wrong in another part that you
didn't post.  Though it will not probably concern this problem,
please note that "." and also "\." in the regexp string match
any character.

I tried your configuration and got "archive.2008-02" and
"misc.netnewswire", whatever the value of
`nnmail-split-fancy-match-partial-words' is.

Yes, the single backslashes are definitely an error. The places where
I've left them out entirely are laziness, I think.
