Well -- XEmacs 19.14 is perfectly able to understand files compiled by Emacs 19.34, but Emacs 19.34 didn't know this, so it puts in code in the byte-compiled files that bombs out when used by XEmacs. I've sent patches to Stallman, and he's installed them.
