It is also pretty slow. If you store your mails locally, you can set up mairix to index them and use the nnmairix back end to create search groups like you describe. There is also the nnir search back end which works with several different search engines, including the IMAP search features, so if you're using nnimap this might be the easiest solution (nnmairix can be used via ssh, but that's a bit cumbersome to set up). Maybe the Gnus registry could be used for creating such temporary groups, but as far as I know there's nothing implemented yet that does what you want right away. -David
