* just lost all my `E' marks

All of the articles I had in my INBOX that were marked `E' are now
marked `O'.  I can only guess that this happened because I failed to
exit the summary buffer exlicitly before exiting Gnus and Emacs, even
though I did accept all of Gnus' offers to "update summary bufffer
<...>".  Is this expected behavior?
