Hi,

I subscribed to an gmail imap server but fail to open the INBOX group,
Gnus tells me "Can't select group".

I can open "[Gmail]/All Mail" and "[Gmail]/Sent Mail" though, so I don't
think it's an nnimap configuration issue.

Could anybody tell me why Gnus hates me ?

Thanks

What does `M-g' on the group say?

Selecting the Gmail INBOX works for me.

It says: "Opening nnimap server on mezza...done"

Yes, me too since I've got another Gmail account which is working.

Thanks

Hmm, I thought I did answer to your post but it doesn't seem so, or at
least I can't any see any traces of a follow up.

and it works.

Ok, I have an information about this issue.

It appears that in the group buffer, I'm displaying (short) groupe name,
the one you get with %G in the group line spec. With this setting, I
can't open my inbox gmail group.

However switching from '%G' to '%g' makes the group opening work !

Weird...

That sounds quite unlikely. What's being displayed in the group buffer
is purely cosmetic, and shouldn't affect anything much.

Ok forget it, I'm just a dumb ass.

The mail box was empty and in this case Gnus doesn't want to open the
corresponding group.

Perhaps it would be better to change the message by something more self
explaining like "Can't select group: it's empty". That would be usefull
for dumb user like me.

Thanks

There was actually code there to display such a message, but the logic
was reversed -- it said this if group selection failed and there were no
read articles in the group.

I've now fixed this. Probably.

On the Gmail INBOX?! Its server is called "mezza"?

Uhm... you have two Gmail accounts, and one you can read the INBOX via
Gnus, but the other you can't?
