* SPC doesn't work in tty gnus on XEmacs 21.2.42

I just started playing with XEmacs 21.2.42. I usually run gnuserv on a
my machine in school and then read gnus with gnuclient -nw. This
problem only occurs when I use gnus on a tty. The SPC key in the
*Summary* buffer does not work, i.e., if there is more than a
screenful of *Article*, SPC does not move page down. Neither does it
to the next article when one goes past the end of an *Article*. I've
been using 'C-M-v' and 'n' to navigate. Has anyone else seen this?

I wonder if in this setup the *Article* buffer is displayed in two
windows, one on your tty and one on the XEmacs at school. Maybe that
confuses XEmacs.

Does it help to kill the *Article* buffer?

I've tried quitting Gnus on the school XEmacs, and restarting on the
tty gnuclient. That doesn't help. I've never tried killing the
*Article* buffer. (Does quitting Gnus do that?) The problem is I don't
know how to reproduce this, though I see it often enough to tear my
hair out. This is peculiar to Oort and the beta Xemacsen that I've been
using. It never happened with 5.8.8 and XEmacs 21.1.12.

Quitting Gnus kills all the buffers, AFAIK.
If it didn't happen in 5.8.8 but happens in ognus, that smells of a
bug in Oort.

ShengHuo?

Unfortunately, I can not reproduce it (Oort in Poseidon tty). Maybe,
"C-h C-k SPC" and "M-: (frame-list) RET" can tell some stories.

Well, I can't either. "C-h C-k SPC" does the right thing, i.e. it runs
'gnus-summary-next-page'. I'll try the other suggestion the next time
it happens.

Thanks.

It's happening right now. 'C-h C-k SPC' returns
'gnus-summary-next-page', and M-: (frame-list)

(#<x-frame "emacs" 0xb602> #<x-frame "emacs" 0x5e04> #<x-frame "emacs" 0x208e> #<tty-frame "emacs" 0x2245d>)

I'm not sure how to interpret this. BTW, I am positing from 21.2.43.

[Problems with SPC in the *Summary* buffer.]

Here's an update. I switched to XEmacs 21.1.12 with the latest Oort.
No problems now, for 2 days. Unfortunately, 21.1.13/14 crash when
quitting the *Summary* buffer on a tty gnuclient (I've reported this
bug.) and the betas have this SPC problem. This doesn't bode well. I
wish I had the savvy to debug this.

Try this command in the summary buffer with this SPC problem.

"M-: (eq (window-frame (get-buffer-window gnus-article-buffer t))
(selected-frame)) RET"

If it returns nil, it means that SPC is scrolling the article buffer
in another frame.

I would guess this is the same bug I'm having with an X11 Gnuclient
quitting the *Summary* Buffer as well except the crash is an infinite
loop.
