I wanted to check to be shure, downloaded pgnus 0.90, repeated the test
but strange, I *did* get the same errors as with 5.6.45.

hmm? Here I *do* get the same error with pgnus 0.90.
My Gnus lives in GNU emacs 20.3 on LINUX.
