How do I set up and use mail aliases with nnmail? Is there any
predefined way of doing things or is a custom hook required? If the
latter, does anyone have any function they'd be willing to share?

Thanks,
Rajappa

I don't know what you mean by "mail aliases". The address in the From
line is taken from `user-mail-address', if any.

Sorry I wasn't clear... I meant the addresses in the recipient
list. e.g. larsi = larsi@ifi.uio.no so that I don't have to type
larsi@ifi.uio.no every time. Y'know something like Mail/aliases for MH
or /usr/mail/aliases for sendmail.

Message uses mailabbrev, which again uses the ~/.mailrc file, which
has lines like this:

alias ei18n "Emacs Internationalization <ei18n@riker.miranova.com>"

Typing ei18n<SPC> (in the To or Cc (etc.) header) will then expand to
the full address.
