Is it supposed to work to GNUS-GROUP-READ-EPHEMERAL-GROUP an otherwise
`normal' group (such as nnml:mail.misc) then expect the solid copy of
the group to not be affected?

I observe that I GNUS-GROUP-READ-EPHEMERAL-GROUP a `normal' group
(such as nnml:mail.misc), then `q' out of this group, then Gnus is
confused about the marks in that group -- it thinks all articles are
unmarked. This is corrected by exiting then reentering Gnus, though.

If the above behavior is normal, then I take back that bug report
regarding this...

Using Gnus 5.6.27 on Emacs 20.2 on Solaris.

I've tried the following:

(gnus-group-read-ephemeral-group "rec.music.gaffa" gnus-select-method)

When I `q' out of the group, the original group doesn't seem to affect
the real group, so I don't seem to be able to reproduce this bug.

I just tried

(gnus-group-read-ephemeral-group "gnu.emacs.sources" gnus-select-method)

and I observe the problem. Hm. Maybe it's got to do with me being
agentized? Or using Emacs 20?

What could I do to investigate?

I've looked at the code, and I found something that looked
suspicious. Could you see whether Gnus 5.6.28 fixes this problem
after it's been released?

I looked. It fixes the problem.

Thanks a lot!
