I did the following in one of my initialization file:

(setq nnfolder-directory "~/Mail/")
(setq nnfolder-active-file "~/Mail/.folder-active")

And after I started GNUS, nnfolder-active-file is changed to "~/Mail/active"
and therefore in the group buffer, all of my mail groups display * for the
number of unread acticle.  I have to manually set nnfolder-active-file back
to "~/Mail/.folder-active", press G to update the group buffer, and the
unread articles seems to be appearing OK.

Does anyone know why would gnus reset my nnfolder-active-file setting??  How
could I trace who is the bad guy here?

I am using gnus-5.6.3 and xemacs-20.4.

Either define those variables in the virtual nnfolder server
definition or set those variables before Gnus is loaded, i.e. in
.emacs.
