Hi,

With pgnus 0.83, when sending mail via smtp, i get a warning in the
minibuffer each time i press C-c C-c: "unknown extension pipelining"

Here is the contents of the *trace of SMTP session to mail.vsu.ru*
buffer:

220 relay2.vsu.ru ESMTP Postfix
EHLO video.uic.vsu.ru
250-relay2.vsu.ru
250-PIPELINING
250-SIZE 10240000
250-ETRN
250 8BITMIME
MAIL FROM: <vvv@vvv.vsu.ru> SIZE=3594
250 Ok
RCPT TO: <holly@irk.ru>
250 Ok
DATA
354 End data with <CR><LF>.<CR><LF>
.
250 Ok: queued as 60E041922
QUIT
221 Bye

So, the SMTP server reports the PIPELINING extension, which is not
known to Gnus (or rather smtpmail). Should Gnus or smtpmail be
extended to understand that keyword?

[if this mail should be sent to smtpmail maintainers, could someone
please forward this mail to them?]

Best,
v.

If this extension isn't needed to do the job, why should it be added?

just to avoid a warning :-) i've written to the smtpmail maintainers
(where the original mail should've been sent in the first place), and
they said that smtpmail will probably by default not warn about
unknown SMTP extensions (and real support for `pipelining' extension
is not considered important enough to be implemented in the near
future).

	Best regards, -- Vladimir.
