Well, it might say that it's 5.6.17, but there's no such thing.
Get it from <URL:http://www.gnus.org/gnus.tar.gz> or
"/ftp@ftp.gnus.org:/pub/emacs/gnus/". The patch is available as
<URL:http://www.gnus.org/patches/gnus-5.6.17-5.6.18.diff.gz>.
