This sounds good.

This doesn't, really.  For instance, I would guess most users will
want to see the message whether it can be verified or not, and there
should be some user interface thing to the verification.  For
decoding, the user may have to type in a password or the like, and
that can't take place during dissection, since that's supposed to
happen at a very low level.

Yes.  So quote the "\nFrom " lines after encoding, then.  :-)
