Yes, I restarted emacs.  I looked through my .newsrc.eld file, and could not
identify any problems.  Neither my .gnus.el nor my .emacs file were changed.

I've run gnus-group-check-bogus-groups, and browsed the nntp server from the
server mode.

sigh.  I'll wait a day in case someone posts "The problem is obviously xxx.
Do yyy and it will be fixed", then upgrade and see what happens.
