(I also had/have a hard time finding this information in the manual -
adding an "address book" item to the index would probably be a good idea).

Either install the BBDB program (which I know little about) or fill
out the ~/.mailrc file like this:

# Comment
alias you "Phil Humpherys <phumpherys@utah-inter.net>"
alias gnus "ding@gnus.org"

alias youandgnus you gnus
=====================
