Probably enough that Hotmail | would close the mailbox down before they got a chance to confirm all | those messages. That is a big "if" because "appreciable" cannot be easilly defined. Hotmail gets a -lot- of traffic. The Hotmail account that I had (and let expire) got more spam in a day than my regular mailbox gets legitimate mail in a day. That includes mailing lists (Gnus, Newton Talk, and several others of moderate to high volume).
