Looking at the code, both on the Gnus side and the Gmane side, I don't see how this is supposed to work, or how it's ever been possible that it worked. Fixing this should be pretty easy, though -- just provide a web page that actually spits out the raw article when given a Message-ID. However -- is there any point in doing that? I mean, Gmane has a perfectly good way to fetch articles by Message-ID already, called "NNTP".
