do we need this header in sent messages?
 X-Draft-From: ("nnml:ding-l-2001-01" "")
(of course value differs)
it's put in every message generated by oort gnus.

It's to make it possible to mark replies as read from the drafts
group, as well as to make it possible to post to the right server from
the drafts group.

ok, i don't need it (i don't use drafts at all). is it safe to add it to
message-ignored-mail-headers ? (or how do i get rid of it?)

You do use drafts even though you don't know it. :-)

It's not sent out, or anything. It's stripped automatically.

damn ;) ok, i don't know the guts of gnus. at all.

when i add x-d-f header to m-i-m-h, yes. but in cvs updated on the 2nd jan
20:40, this header is not there, so it's sent. hence the question. look at:
 Message-ID: <vuo7l4dhh22.fsf@csa.bu.edu> and
 Message-ID: <874rzij5zv.fsf@lynx.ionific.com> as examples.
or am i misunderstanding something?

Oops. I forgot to add it to the mail stuff. Fix in cvs in a jiffy.

Sounds like a good enough reason (although this humble user has never
suffered from not having a properly working drafts system before..:-)

Invisible (and intangible) text has its difficulties. I think most of
the implementation bugs have been fixed in both Emacs and XEmacs now,
but people have a tendency to kill'n'yank text from one buffer to
another, and then they're kinda surprised that what they got wasn't
what they thought they'd get. I think that according to the principle
of least astonishment, no invisible text should be in text-mode-like
buffers.

I just installed Oort (cvs of today) and wonder about the X-Draft-From
header, which as the first and longest header quite dominates my
message buffer visually. Here it is:

    X-Draft-From: ("nntp+quimby.gnus.org:gnus.ding" "")

Do I need to see this header while composing a message?
