Is it intended behavior that when I do `^' on an article to get its
parent, all of the collapsed threads in the summary buffer get
unfolded?

Also, I often get frustrated that I can't tick an article, which I got
as a result of g-s-refer-parent-article.

p.s. I'm sure I saw this answered before, but couldn't find
it... What's the command to get the entire thread tree of an article
(read messages and all)?

No -- does it happen every time you `^'?

Well, you can't.

Yes. Just did it again, and all other (unrelated) thread unfolded.

Yup. Fix in Gnus v5.8.5.
