Opera M2 removes what's below a line consisting of dashes, like the
one below, in signatures when doing a reply:

What's between the signature separator andt the above line, is kept.
Is this some kind of unofficial disclaimer separator? Or is this just
Opera M2's mailing list banner filter kicking in?

Without knowing I would make quite a educated guess that it is a
banner filter that eats it. It is depressingly common with this kind
of signature separator these days - both for banners and for personal
signatures. It is only computer geeks, nerds and zealots that use "-- "
these days. M-x insert-file RET std-rant.text RET
