This sequence does it here - and is thoroughly repeatable. Download news, import into agent 'J s'. Read news in a few groups, leaving many unread in others. Close agent with 'q' from group buffer. Later bring up gnus 'unplugged' 'M-x gnus-unplugged' All groups show up with Zero unread articles. Go on-line 'J j' 'g', when new news is retrieved all groups change to all unread -- every group now shows no 'read' articles - any record of read and unread is history. What a drag. But none of this happens long as I bring Gnus up 'plugged'. -- Harry Putnam reader@newsguy.com
