I am getting the following error when I access a particular group
unplugged. This only happens for this particular group. The " *nntpd*"
buffer is empty.

Does it help to M-x nnml-generate-nov-databases-1 RET
~/News/agent/whatever/ RET?

Perhaps the agent .overview file is hosed.

What do you mean by "whatever"? I tried ~/New/agent/comp/sys/....
(name of broken newsgroup) but that doesn't seem to help.
