Hi,

this is to make GNU Emacs' help functions happy (system-name is both
function and variable, but we would like to reference the function only).

BTW - this variable is used only in gnus-picons?

Anyone willing to migrate picons for Emacs 21?

BTW - what else is not supported on GNU Emacs 21 and is supported on
XEmacs?

Having Picons working in Emacs 21 would be nice.  I haven't actually
looked at the Emacs 21 image functions yet.  Are they easy to work with?

They look easy indeed.  However, gnus-picon.el is a bit, er,
incomprehensible.

Does anybody want to either clean it up or write a new one?  If nobody
pipes up, I'll take a whack at it...

Installing the picons themselves is easy.  "apt-get install picon.*"
