Should article-mode set the (local value of) the variable
`cursor-in-non-selected-windows' to nil?  It seems odd to see a cursor
in an article buffer when it's not the selected window.

Agreed.  Please do unless someone objects.

I have the following in my init file:

(add-hook 'gnus-article-mode-hook
	  (lambda ()
	    (setq cursor-in-non-selected-windows nil)))

I wondered if it's only me who thinks this is odd. :-)
