It's very, very, very simple.  I have one of those bar-code reader
thingies that I've increased the current on, and I've attached it to
the fan in the ceiling, and it scans everything that's in the general
couch area.  If it sees something that looks vaguely like a book, it
scans it, OCR's the cover, and then tells Emacs about it.

Couldn't be simpler.
