I don't know, but that's the problem that was reported in this thread 3 months ago, as well as more recently in the thread "\"seen\" marks create adjacent lists". Maybe it's fixed now. The recompression might still be useful to fix old range lists left over from when the range functions were buggy. Or not. paul
