So when I'm not at school (which is most almost everytime :-) I must use our authenticated NNTP server which is running on different port (1119). There are groups to which I'll never send any post (like jokes or similar :-)) so I have them from normal NNTP server on 119. I use agent of course. From time to time gnus is trying to fetch groups like: Opening nntp server on news.muni.cz+nntp+news.muni.cz:cz.muni.fi... Opening nntp server on news.muni.cz+nntp+news.muni.cz:cz.muni.fi-unix... Which is BAD... I have also this in my *Messages* now: Retrieving newsgroup: nntp+news.muni.cz:cz.muni.fi... Opening nntp server on news.muni.cz+nntp+news.muni.cz:cz.muni.fi... Fetching headers for nntp+news.muni.cz:cz.muni.fi... Fetching headers for nntp+news.muni.cz:cz.muni.fi...done The group is written like this in gnus-newsrc-alist in newsrc.eld: ("nntp+news.muni.cz:cz.muni.fi" 3 ((1 . 3728)) ((save 3540 3641 3671) (reply 3462)) (nntp "news.muni.cz" (nntp-port-number 1119))) And there is also this directory in my gnus-agent-directory: SnowWhite:/home/pavel/Mail/Agent/nntp$ ls -1d news.muni.cz* news.muni.cz news.muni.cz+nntp+news.muni.cz:cz.muni.fi news.muni.cz+nntp+news.muni.cz:cz.muni.fi-unix SnowWhite:/home/pavel/Mail/Agent/nntp$ :-(( I think there is a bug somewhere when agent is trying to manage this group with nntp-port number... Other info on request. You can try in on news.muni.cz port 1119 yourself. You can read everything from it (hopefully) but you can nor post. -- Pavel Janík ml. Pavel.Janik@inet.cz
