Hello,
I do not know if it is a bug or a feature, but nnmail-delete-incoming
is set to nil by default (gnus 5.6.2). The doc states otherwise (t by
default).
In nnmail.el:
410:(defcustom nnmail-delete-incoming nil

This has been fixed in Gnus 5.6.4.
