flow-fill.el implements rfc2646. rfc2646 has been obsoleted by
rfc3676. i think the only interesting change is the addition of the
delsp=yes modifier.

anybody feel like updating flow-fill.el to implement delsp=yes?

here's an example of an email message i received recently.

+--
|Mime-Version: 1.0 (Apple Message framework v619)
|Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed
|Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
|X-Mailer: Apple Mail (2.619)
|
|http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?
|type=politicsNews&storyID=5944517
+--

i trimmed out all the irrelevant headers, obviously.
there's a space after the question mark.

it seems because gnus does not implement delsp=yes, when i view the
email message, the URL does not get re-joined, and so the URL is not
quite clickable (well, part of the URL is clickable...).

m.

Sure. Could you forward a message that uses delsp?

(Perhaps we should have a Gnus newsgroup/mailing list/whatever that
has a repository of interesting MIME (and otherwise) documents. A
corpus of test subjects. It might have to be categorised in some
handy way to be useful, though...)

see attached. i can provide more if you want. fwiw, it seems to be
an Apple application that generates 3676.

I started and ran Califa Foods for a few years - we branded and
retailed a line of private labeled sauces, marinades and
dressings. I sold the business a couple years ago (its still going
strong!) but I would be happy to share my knowledge and contacts
with you - call either number below (I'm on the West Coast)

Cheers, Cooper

I didn't see any delsp in that message...

hmm, something transformed the message...

here it is a again, this time attached as a gzipped file.

I've often wanted something like that, to put all "problematic"
messages for future regression testing. Perhaps we can create a news
hierarchy (or remotely accessible nnml server?) that contain folders
like:

evil.flow-fill
evil.pgp
evil.smime
...

I poked around a bit here, and I found a corpus of MIME messages
created by François Pinard that looks quite nice, although a bit
outdated.

The main problem with a MIME corpus is that you should be able to say
(outside) of the message what problem you're trying to demonstrate
with the message in question.

Perhaps the way to do that would be to have an explanatory message
being the parent of each example MIME message?

Creating something like that would take a bit of work, though.

Ok; I think I may now have implemented delsp, but I'm not quite sure,
as there wasn't really anything in that article that needed
unfolding. :-)
