I wonder how hard it would be to make expired articles carry with them
a customizable set of marks. For example, I read groups with nnimap
and expire them to nnfolder groups. I would love it if my Answered
and Forwarded marks were carried forwarded into my nnfolder groups so
that I have a true record of my email correspondence.

That's true.
However, it looks like it would be quite tricky to do, actually. If
somebody else wants to take a look at the code, and gets a bright
idea, I'm all for fixing this.
