I think the contents of the `history' file used by the agent isn't
explained anywhere. At least I couldn't find it with `s' in the Gnus
info file.

I don't think it's documented. Perhaps there should be a node for
that in the manual?
Anyway, the format is
message-id day-number group article-number
And that's days since, er, 1970, I guess.
