Having MIME support in pgnus is great! Now, can anyone tell me where I can
get a Unix-based MIME viewer for MS Word files?

"strings" frequently works as well as anything else I've tried. There
is also word2x, which tries to translate word6 to either html or
latex, and mswordview, which tries to do word 8. mswordview provides
a network interface, so you can try it out without installing it. In
both cases, you get the content, but frequently not much of the
formatting.

There's MSWordView:

http://www.gnu.org/~caolan/docs/MSWordView.html
"MSWordView is a program that can understand the microsofts word 8 binary
file format (office97), it currently converts word into html, which can then
be read with a browser."
