Sounds like you are using xv with a display mode that is different from that of your X server. That is, xv in 24-bit mode on an 8-bit server, or vice-versa. I've used xv for years on 8-bit, 16-bit, and 24-bit X servers and it works just fine on all of them *if* you use the correct settings. | display is also *very* actively developed, whereas xv seems to be mostly | dead unless I'm just not looking in the right places. xv is currently stagnant. But then, there is little that really needs to be added to it that has not already been done. It handles all of the common image formats (with readilly available patches for modern TIFF and PNG), and most of the uncommon ones. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v0.9.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE3ZDr0gl+vIlSVSNkRAvH4AJ9Qphe9YwKea1qG0kNHEFRS8+wDAgCg2eCX wY9fSRpxs9vbZHvodLu6eQk= =UdbY -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Rat \ Caution: Happy Fun Ball may suddenly Minion of Nathan - Nathan says Hi! \ accelerate to dangerous speeds.
