No Gnus v0.1[7-8] taking 36 secs to display new messages

Hello,

Is it my set-up, or did the combination of No Gnus/Emacs 24 become a tad
less fast? Using GNU Emacs 24.0.50.1 (Debian emacs-snapshot) and a fresh
Gnus from Git will take half a minute to go through my
mailboxes. Granted, there are two-hundred of them....

Earlier versions of Emacs and No Gnus v0.17, this *fantastic* mail client
seemed much snappier..

I don't think there's been anything majorly changed in Emacs 24 or No
Gnus the past few weeks?  Are you still seeing the slowdown?
