Does anyone know if the HTML manual is available as a compressed
package for downloading?
Thanks.

That's certainly doable. Would a gzipped tar file be what you had in
mind?
The HTML versions of the Gnus manuals I have on the web:
5.0: http://www.miranova.com/gnus-man/
5.2: http://www.miranova.com/sgnus-man/
5.4: http://www.miranova.com/rgnus-man/
are generated by the perl script `texi2html' with the command:
texi2html --split_node gnus.texi
I find having local copies in HTML format extraordinarily useful.

What are the last two letters of "doesn't" and "can't"?
Coincidence? I think not.

Gnus 5.0:
ftp://ftp.miranova.com/pub/gnus/gnus-man-html.tar.gz
Gnus 5.2:
ftp://ftp.miranova.com/pub/gnus/sgnus-man-html.tar.gz
Gnus 5.4:
ftp://ftp.miranova.com/pub/gnus/rgnus-man-html.tar.gz
The tars are relative to each directory, so don't unpack two of them
in the same directory. They are updated from the web site daily.
