There's a fundamental difference between the marks stored in IMAP and the marks stored on the nntp backend. The former is useful. The latter just duplicates the information in the .newsrc.eld file locally, and isn't particularly. I thought I had finally separated out the two different things, and defaulted the former to on and the latter to off, but nope.
