Same here, although for Gnus, I'm using rsync separately from the rest
of my account's configuration (it changes more often). With appropriate
settings for various directory variables, the amount of syncing needed
can boil down to 3 files and one directory for me:
.bbdb, .newsrc, .newsrc.eld, and .gnus/
