Because the effect (for me) is to have a thread of say 10 unread articles, with the fifth one selected, when I'm expecting the first unread article to be selected, because, well, I haven't read it yet. I don't care that the others are "seen", because they're "unread", which I believe should trump "seen". I know, I know, I can customize it, I just find the new default confusing. Robert
