But you haven't provided any proof of this "standard" of requiring the fqdn (and nothing else) of the running system to make up the rhs. I may be wrong, but it doesn't seem likely to me that several distinct and intelligent groups of software developers (mutt, mozilla, qmail, etc..) would have goofed so badly if this is an established standard.
