This is to support an encrypted .authinfo, right?
I would also like to see GPG as an option (using symmetric ciphers as
well). Perhaps once I get your update in hand, I can look into
implementing that. I assume it's just a matter of swapping some
command-line arguments to call on gpg rather than openssl.
