That's because the default value of `rmail-dont-reply-to-names' is
nil, which means exactly that.

It doesn't seem to be a gnus variable. It's defined in the mail-lib
package (mail-utils.el) in XEmacs. Or maybe it's distributed with gnus in GNU
Emacs.
