The biggest problem is that some of the headers (of the messages within the digest) have been ">escaped". For example: >Date: Tue, 22 Apr 1997 16:26:17 +0200 >From: Michiel Perdeck >To: patterns@cs.uiuc.edu Subject: subscribe Message-ID: <335CCA89.2167@sni.de> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit The result is that gnus shows me a summary buffer like this: [ 4: nobody ] Relational Database Access Layers [ 119: nobody ] Re: Document Early and Often Y -[ 22: nobody ] (none) Y -[ 7: nobody ] subscribe And the (washed) article bodies look like this: Subject: Relational Database Access Layers Blah blah blah ... (i.e., only a subject line). The second problem is that the "intro" article (the [22:nobody] one, the one that summarizes what's in the digest), has no distinguishing headers--nothing reasonable to score on. So--it'd be nice if the gnus digest code would un>escape the internal headers, and somehow handle the intro article specially so that I could score it appropriately--perhaps by adding a header `X-gnus-digest-index' that would have the value 1 for the first article in the digest, 2 for the second, .... Thoughts? Here's the original message (uuencoded to protect against further mangling): begin 644 digest M4F5C96EV960Z(&9R;VT@8V]G;F5X+F-O9VYE>"YC;VT@8GD@97)A=V%N+F-O M9VYE>"YC;VT@*#@N-BXQ,B\X+C8N,3(I('=I=&@@15--5%`@:60@2$%!,#4U M,#,@9F]R(#QM8V]O:T!C;V=N97@N8V]M/CL@5V5D+"`R,R!!<'(@,3DY-R`P M-SHT.3HP,"`M,#0P,`I297-E;G0M1G)O;3H@<&%T=&5R;G,M2!C M;V=N97@N8V]G;F5X+F-O;2`H."XV+C$R+S@N-BXQ,BD@=VET:"!%4TU44"!I M9"!(04$R-#4S,B!F;W(@/&UC;V]K0&-O9VYE>"YC;VT^.R!7960L(#(S($%P M"YC;VT@=FEA('-M M87`@*#,N,BD*"6ED('AM83`R,C2!J97)R>2YC2YC2YC7!E.B!M M=6QT:7!A3TB+2TM+2TM+2TM+2TM+2TM+2TM M+2TM+2TM+2TM+2(*5&\Z('!A='1E2U4;SH@<&%T=&5R;G-`8W,N=6EU8RYE9'4*3&EN97,Z(#$Y,`I8'0O<&QA:6X*"G!A='1E M2!A;F0@3V9T96X@("`@("`@("`@6R!"71H:6YG(&5L2D@"F]F(")S=6)S8W)I8F4B("AW M:71H;W5T('1H92!Q=6]T97,I+@H*+2TM+2TM+2TM+2TM+2TM+2TM+2TM+2TM M+2TM+2TM"@H^1&%T93H@5'5E+"`R,B!!<'(@,3DY-R`Q-CHR-CHQ-R`K,#(P M,`H^1G)O;3H@36EC:&EE;"!097)D96-K(#QP97)D96-K+G9I84!S;FDN9&4^ M"CY4;SH@<&%T=&5R;G-`8W,N=6EU8RYE9'4*4W5B:F5C=#H@7!E.B!T97AT+W!L86EN.R!C:&%R#H@,S,S M,3,R,`I#34<@050@1FEN86YC92`Z(&UI8VAI96PN<&5R9&5C:T!C;6'!E&EM:71Y(&%S"CX@/B!P;W-S:6)L M92!T;R!T:&4@2!R96QA=&5D('1O($QI=&5R M871E(%!R;V=R86UM:6YG+@H^(`H^($QO4D0@:7,@82!G;V]D(&ED96$L(&)U M="!D:69F97)E;G0@:6X@<'5R<&]S92!F6YA M;6EC86QL>2!L;V-A;"(L('-I;F-E(&ET('-H;W5L9"!B90H^(&%V86EL:6)L M92!A="!A('-E8V]N9"=S(&YO=&EC92!T;R!R96-O2`B:6YH86)I="(@=&AE('!R;VIE8W0@9&ER96-T;W)Y('1R964N"@I) M;B!Y;W5R(&-A2!E;G1E5!E6]U('=A;G0@=&\@9VEV92!I="!A(%=I:VDM;&EK92!P871T97)N(&YA M;64I"F]N(&UO0IA6]U)W)E(')E9F5R M2!T:&4@(G)E9F5R M96YC92!D;V-S(B!F;W(@=&AE($%20TA)5$5#5%5210I!3D0@1$5324=.+"!M M=6-H(&UO2(L M($D@8VAO2!O9B!R969E2!R96-A;&P@=&AA="!)
