I submitted a patch a while ago that puts a simple (sit-for 0) in the
processing loop to do just that. However, you still have to wait for
it to complete before you can actually use the summary buffer, but at
least you can wait for it.
Now, if only my schedule would clear up a bit so I can get the
assignment done with my current employer (likely Sept).
