Subject: gnus-read-active-file with 0.99
Date: 02 Dec 1999 06:36:58 +0100 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <sh4se1kio5.fsf@tux.gnu.franken.de> (raw)
My weak nntpd (NNTP[auth] server version 1.5.12.1 (1 Jan 1995)) seems
not to support the active file feature. Yes, I should switch the nntpd
(no, I don't want INN; but I do need UUCP, with wihci leafnode isn't
able to deal with. Any hints?)
Until 0.98 it works setting
(setq gnus-read-active-file nil)
But this setting makes version 0.99 hang. Last message displayed:
nnml: Reading incoming mail from file...
nnml: Reading incoming mail (no new mail)...done [36 times]
If I set
(setq gnus-read-active-file t)
it also hangs, but after pressing C-g Gnus will retrieve my mails; in
this case it doesn't establish a connection to the nntpd.
