Subject: UTF-8 messages and QP

Message-ID: <shy9kw2n03.fsf@tux.gnu.franken.de> (raw)

When I tag a part with:

<#part encoding=quoted-printable charset=utf-8 type="text/plain" disposition=inline>

Emacs/Gnus complains:

Unknown encoding quoted-printable; defaulting to 8bit

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- cut here -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

But in the end, the part is marked as:

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8
Content-Disposition: inline
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

but this isn't the truth -- it's 8bit.

I'm using Emacs 21.1 plus Dave Love's UTF-9 extentions posted on
gnu.emacs.sources and an approx. 2 weeks old Gnus from CVS.
