I find that some of my most precious configurations are group- or topic-specific. It's hard to share these settings at different sites (or even just copy the settings from an existing group to a new, similar group) because of binding between state and configuration in a single file. We can probably each think of some benefits, but what are the costs? Is there some reason why this can't be done, or why the idea was rejected in the past? -- Steven E.
