All that of course works, but I would like to avoid the phase or Creating Large Summary buffer altogether. I'm looking for speed here. Many of my groups have 10's of ticked (in work groups, hundreads) articles and this mean lot of extra work for Gnus, and it slows down Getting the Summary displayed. Limiting is another step still. Gnus must know which articles are new, so building summary based on them only should be trivial. And when combined with (gnus-fetch-old-headers nil) that'd be the fast access to new articles. What gnus functions variables is needed here? jari
