Hello,

I am a new user trying to start using pGnus for reading mail. (I am
not trying to read news at the moment).

All my mail groups are of the nnfolder type. The *Group* buffer
looks like this for example

       2: nnfolder:other
       1: nnfolder:cygwin
       3: nnfolder:ntemacs-users

Now I can't enter any of these groups, I only get the error `No unread
news' and the number in front of the group drops to zero (Sometimes I
get the error `Args out of range').

The problem seems to be caused by linefeeds (^M's) in my mail folders.
After removing these linefeeds by opening the folder with `M-x
find-file-literally' and replacing all ^M's with nothing, I can open
the folder from the *Group* buffer.

But unfortunately only temporarily! As soon as Gnus saves the folder
again for whatever reason (usually because new mail has been retrieved
into this folder from the pop server), the ^M's are there again. And
again I can't open the folder.

How to stop these ^M's from appearing again?

Thank you very much for any help,

Mike Fabian

PS:
The Emacs and gnus versions which I am using are:
(version)
"GNU Emacs 20.3.9.1 (i386-*-nt4.0)
of Tue May 11 1999 on gridlock"
(gnus-version)
"Pterodactyl Gnus v0.89"
