>From which buffer?  I expect it winds up buffer-local to the *Summary*
buffer, which doesn't do you much good.  You'll probably want to set
gnus-treat-fill-article to ("nnml:mail\.from\.my\.friend") [or
whatever] globally, as documented in the Info node (Gnus)Customizing Articles.
